Friends volunteers make things happen!
Many people volunteer to help with
a variety of tasks when they join or renew their memberships. The membership form lists
categories with which the Friends need help.
Since people's schedules change, not all volunteer
duties require a regular commitment. Some can be done whenever the
volunteer is in the library. Others are more regular, such as the
newsletter workers who prepare and mail the newsletter every other
month. If some of these appeal to you, you can volunteer by using
our contact form or leave a message
at the BHL Friends office number (302) 477-1945 and a volunteer will
get back to you.
Flexible schedule volunteer activities:
Shelf Reading -
volunteers checking shelves to ensure that all the materials on
a shelf are in the correct order.
Checking AV materials
(for damage) - when returned materials are reported as damaged
they cannot circulate again until they're checked. Checking allows
the material to be replaced or put back into circulation if it
works properly.
Web Site volunteers - to develop and improve our Friends
of BHL Web pages.
Newsletter article
writing - submissions by Friends to our newsletter are welcome.
Articles may be included in the newsletter or Web pages.
Volunteer activities at specific times:
Newsletter Mailings - every other month
Helping with Children's art projects - when programs
are scheduled
Library Guide/Greeter
- needed for special programs, Friends' annual membership
drive during National Library Week
